Starting out her career working as a personal assistant and an Audit Intermediate within Accounting firms, Ana Brkan showed promise and significant potential to go on within this industry and make a substantial career. Ana’s role with PKF Chartered Accountants in 2005 gave her valuable experience within the mining, construction, aged care, property trusts and pastoral industries and saw her assisting in audits of both public and private organisations. Ana also held Accounts Manager roles which included management of the accounts and payments as well as BAS and PAYG statements, stemming her interest in banking and finance.

In 2006, Ana began her foray into tutoring at Griffith University, in the Company law, Corporations Law, Money, Banking and Finance disciplines, imparting her formally learnt and experienced skills to students in these areas, and still performs as Head Tutor today.

As a Graduate Lawyer, Ana joined Blake Dawson Lawyers and worked within the energy and resources, projects and financial services area. Key duties here revolved around a diverse portfolio including mining, native title, petroleum and gas, banking and finance and corporate. Ana’s mining experience extended to the application of mining legislation as well as the acquisition, management and disposal of mining assets and interests. Within this role Ana provided written and oral advice in relation to Native Title future act procedures and the right to negotiate process under the Native Title Act 1993. Involving a large amount of liaison with relevant Government departments and regulatory agencies as well as provision of advice around petroleum and gas issues, Ana’s role included provision of advice around the application of petroleum and gas legislation. As well as corporate advice around business sales and acquisitions, Ana gave advice on corporate governance issues, fundraising and financial disclosure issues.

Admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2008, Ana Brkan has since had experience within both top and mid-tier practices, including Associate Lawyer and Lawyer positions within commercial and taxation structuring, asset protection and estate and succession planning as well as property development law.

Ana’s enthusiasm and responsiveness along with her adherence to stringent ethical standards ensures client’s needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
